Notice of Deadline for Voter Registration
Voter registration for the Viborg-Hurley School District Election to be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, will close on June 4, 2018. Failure to register by this date will cause forfeiture of voting rights for this election. If you are in doubt about whether you are registered, check the Voter Information Portal at www.sdsos.gov or call the county auditor at 1 (605) 297-3153.
Registration may be completed during regular business hours at the county auditor's office, municipal finance office, secretary of state's office, and those locations which provide driver's licenses, SNAP, TANF, WIC, military recruitment, and assistance to the disabled as provided by the Department of Human Services. You may contact the county auditor to request a mail-in registration form.
Voters with disabilities may contact the county auditor for information and special assistance in voter registration, absentee voting, or polling place accessibility.

Flag Football league/Cheerleading Squad
There will be a K thru 2nd grade Flag Football League and Cheerleading Squad. Please sign and return signup and waiver on or before Tuesday May 15th, 2018 . Season will begin August 21st, 2018 thru September 22nd.
The tentitive schedule is as follows:
1st practice will be August 21st, Practice @6:30-7:30pm (same time each practice following). Saturday Game days 10am. August 30th Game 6:30pm, pictures will be that night please be ½ hour early to begin pictures and start game on time.

Practice: (Football) August 28th - Game August 30th (THURS. NIGHT/PICTURES)
Practice: (Football) Sept. 4th - Game Sept. 8th (Sat Morning)

Practice: (Football) Sept. 18th - Game Sept 22nd (Sat Morning)
We are trying to split the practices/games 1st half in Viborg 2nd half in Hurley. Will notify once location is approved.
*If your child will be playing football you will need to provide a mouth guard before they start practice, it is required to wear for practice and games.
There is also a cheerleading squad if your child is interested on being on that team. 1st practice is August 21st . Followed by practices starting 15 min before game times and then cheer during the flag football games.

Circulation of nominating petitions may begin on April 10, 2018 and petitions may be filed in the office of the business manager located at 203 West Park, Viborg, and S. D. between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., central standard time, not later than May 11, 2018, at 5:00 p.m., or mailed by registered mail not later than May 11, 2018, at 5:00 p.m.
Public Key Fobs
The public key fobs have been programmed to allow access to our building between the hours of 4:00 to 9:00 PM and 5:00-7:30 AM on Monday thru Friday and 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Saturday, Sunday and during School Holidays.
Fobs can be tracked to time of use and who used the fob to access the building so please do not loan your fob out to others.
We also ask that those using the free weights in the weight room do so only with another person or spotter present.
***Please note that school activities take precedence when scheduling gym use.

V-H School Board Honored
Members of the Viborg-Hurley School Board earned statewide recognition for their dedicated participation in activities, board development and training and demonstrated leadership at various areas and levels.
The Viborg-Hurley School earned a Bronze Level award for their participation in the Associated School Board's of South Dakota's board recognition program: ALL, which stands for Act, Learn, Lead and honors the work of school boards striving to enhance their knowledge base of board work
By participating in ASBSD activities, training opportunities and demonstrating leadership at the local, state, and national level, school boards accumulated points throughout the 2016-17 school year to achieve an award level.
"The Viborg-Hurley School Board is committed to their students, parents, staff and community and we're pleased to honor and recognize their hard work and dedication," ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said.
On Tuesday, December 12 at 4:30 p.m. Gerry Kaufman, ASBSD Director of Policy and Legal Services honored the Viborg-Hurley School Board with the presentation of their ALL plaque.
In the inaugural year of the program, nearly one-third of the total number of public school boards in South Dakota earned an ALL award through the variety of training, development and leadership opportunities.
"There's a very apparent pledge by the Viborg-Hurley School Board and school boards across the state to enhance public education in South Dakota,: Pogany said.
ASBSD is a private, non-profit association representing more than 850 South Dakota school board members, the 149 school districts they govern and the school districts they govern and the students they serve.
